Inspiring Growth, Nurturing Futures

Hokkaido Bunkyo University

Department of Child Development

At Hokkaido Bunkyo University's Department of Child Development, we are dedicated to nurturing educators and childcare professionals who possess a deep love for children and a broad perspective on education. Our program emphasizes comprehensive training that integrates knowledge from various fields, including community involvement, welfare, sports, and the arts, to foster well-rounded individuals capable of supporting healthy child development.

Key Features of Our Program:

- Triple License Qualification: Students have the opportunity to obtain up to three licenses and qualifications from the following: "Childcare Worker Qualification," "First-Class Kindergarten Teacher License," "First-Class Elementary School Teacher License," and "First-Class Special Needs School Teacher License." This multi-qualification approach enhances career flexibility and readiness to meet diverse educational needs.

- Diverse Course Offerings: In addition to traditional courses for training nursery, kindergarten, elementary, and special needs school teachers, we offer new courses tailored for those interested in education and childcare within community or welfare settings, as well as specialized tracks focusing on sports or the arts. Regardless of the chosen path, students can obtain multiple licenses and qualifications, equipping them to address various aspects of child development.

- Extensive Extracurricular Activities: Our program includes a wide range of activities such as assistant teaching roles in elementary schools, participation in "Challenged Classrooms" working with children with disabilities, involvement in active learning education study groups, and collaboration with local artists to enhance expressive skills. These experiences, along with partnerships with the Eniwa City Board of Education and preparation courses for teacher recruitment exams, provide students with practical skills and community engagement opportunities.

Educational Philosophy:

We believe that becoming an effective educator or childcare worker requires not only specialized knowledge but also a rich humanity and a broad perspective. Our curriculum encourages students to explore education beyond traditional school settings, encompassing community and welfare fields, as well as sports and the arts. By deepening their understanding and abilities based on the latest knowledge, our students are prepared to support the healthy development of children in various environments.

Through this comprehensive approach, the Department of Child Development aims to cultivate professionals who are well-equipped to contribute meaningfully to the growth and well-being of children, fostering a brighter future for the next generation.

Currently, we are not accepting applications from foreign students for this department.  (2025)
