9. Student Educational Research Disaster Injury Insurance
and Liability Insurance for Accidents
The Student Educational Research Disaster Insurance (Gakken-sai) provides
coverage for accidents that occur during academic activities, school events,
extracurricular activities, and during commuting. The Gakken-sai Liability
Insurance (Gakken-bai) covers legal compensation for injuries caused to others
or damage to others' property that occurs during academic activities, school
events, or while commuting.
All students are required to join the insurance. However, it does not cover
illnesses. Details will be provided in the "Gakken-sai Pamphlet"
distributed during the new student orientation.
10. Housing
Initially, students are required to reside in apartments located within Eniwa
City, where the university is located. The estimated rent is 26,000–31,000 yen
per month for a 1DK single room and around 46,000 yen for a 2DK shared room.
Students can search for an apartment independently via the internet or contact
the International Exchange Office for assistance in securing housing.
For international students arriving from overseas, finding housing can be
challenging, and the International Exchange Office will assist. Once housing is
arranged, the university will contact the student.
11. Bedding
Apartments in Japan do not come with bedding. Students must purchase bedding
upon arrival. Those wishing to purchase bedding in Japan should contact the
International Exchange Office in advance. The estimated cost for a futon,
blanket, cover, and pillow is around 15,000 yen.
International students may find it difficult to prepare bedding and other
necessary items, and the International Exchange Office will assist with this
process. Once the student’s enrollment is confirmed, the university will
contact them.
12. International Student Housing Comprehensive Insurance
System
The International Student Housing Comprehensive Insurance System is designed to
alleviate concerns regarding joint guarantors when renting housing and includes
coverage for daily life liability and other related risks. By enrolling in this
insurance, the burden on the guarantor (both financially and emotionally) is
reduced.
The university has a system where, as a condition for entering an apartment in
Eniwa City and enrolling in the International Student Housing Comprehensive
Insurance, the university president will act as the guarantor during the
student's enrollment period. The insurance fee is 4,000 yen per year. Those
wishing to enroll will receive the necessary forms from the International
Exchange Office after entering Japan.
