Hokkaido Bunkyo University
Hokkaido Bunkyo University's Faculty of International Studies comprises two departments:
Department of International Liberal Arts
: This department aims to cultivate "glocal" human resources—individuals who think globally and act locally. The curriculum emphasizes a cross-disciplinary international education in the humanities and social sciences, focusing on developing communication skills in multiple foreign languages and analytical methodologies related to world politics and economics. Students engage in in-depth studies of international relations, development assistance, environmental issues, and the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). The program fosters an understanding of diverse cultures, societies, and histories, preparing students to contribute to local communities with a global perspective.
Department of International Communication:
This department focuses on developing "English + Chinese" communicators. The curriculum includes mandatory short-term study abroad programs in English-speaking countries and cross-cultural experiences in Niseko, a resort town in Hokkaido known for its international community. These experiences are designed to foster deep mutual understanding and practical language skills. The department also emphasizes building communication skills and the ability to adapt to different cultures, preparing students to connect with people worldwide.
Both departments aim to equip students with the skills and knowledge necessary to thrive in an increasingly globalized world, emphasizing practical experiences and cultural understanding.
